Emerald first flew onto our fall fashion radar when the venerable Pantone Institute named it THE shade of 2013, but some of the world’s hottest designers- think Christian Dior- just can’t get enough of this great jewel tone. Here are some hot ways to wear emerald in 2014.

As a Metallic:

Gold and silver are great, don’t get us wrong, but they can be a little repetitive- just look at the red carpet at any awards show for proof. Jewel-tone metallics, however, manage to be sophisticated and novel at the same time, and emerald is our favorite of these shades for one simple reason: the dark shade keeps it subtle, rather than Vegas Strip-shiny. We love this liquid-metallic cami from Topshop as a great addition to any fall date-night outfit.

On Your Feet:

Emerald is one of those shades that catches attention without screaming too loud. This makes it a great color to use when trying to add a vibrant pop to a more basic outfit. It also has a vintage feel that channels the elegance of the 1920s and 1930s, which can lead to some fairly fabulous footwear. We’re mad about these incredible vegan flats from Chelsea Crew. They’re perfect for turning any outfit into something special.

As a Casual Statement:

Casual fall clothes tend towards muted shades like olive and khaki, which can start to feel a little drab. Emerald is the perfect color to spice up an everyday fall wardrobe while staying perfectly in tune with the season. Whether we’re strolling the farmer’s market for perfect pears or just lounging in the last of the sunlight with a homemade pumpkin latte, we’re ready to head down the yellow brick road to get to this sweet and simple spaghetti-strap dress by I.N San Francisco, perfect for warm fall days or layering with leggings and a crop jacket.

But, our favorite emerald trend this fall is our very own bike ride print. In addition to the Logan Trunk Bag pictured above, the Midway Weekender, Six Corner Handlebar Bag and Bike Share Bag all come in Emerald Bike Ride!
