Each month we will be choosing our favorite Po Campo fan photo to display on the blog. We see all of your beautiful pictures on Instagram, but if there are photos you’ve taken with your Po Campo bag that you haven’t posted online, feel free to send them our way! You can email your fan photos to photos@pocampo.com or tag your photos with #pocampo for a chance to win a FREE PO CAMPO BAG.
1. Something about your hometown:
Hosting out of town guests allows me the opportunity to visit (and brag about) my favorite city spots. Typically, I like to take guest to at least one of the following restaurants: Uncommon Ground, Piece Brewery, Big Star, or Tango Sur and let them experience some “classic” Chicago moments such as: free concerts in Millennium Park, bike riding down Lake Shore Drive, a walk down Southport corridor, or perhaps a movie at the Music Box (if it’s bad weather).
2. Where is your favorite place to take your Po Campo bag?
I like to go on long bike rides whenever possible. My favorite trips are up to the Chicago Botanic Garden (my second home) or down to Navy Pier on the lakeshore bike path. I also love riding down to Logan Square and/or Wicker Park for some of my favorite Chicago bites.
3. What's your favorite movie (or two) and why?
I’m going to go with a classic and say – Sound of Music. This has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. It’s a good movie for any kind of day/mood. And who doesn’t love Julie Andrews?! She’s simply one of the most gifted humans on the plant.
4. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
Not yet, no. But soon! My husband and I are dreaming of an American bulldog in our very near future (once we can get a house with a yard…).
5. A favorite tip (or two) about how you incorporate mindfulness and healthy habits into your daily life.
I try (“try” being the operative word) to do something for myself everyday for at least 30 minutes. Taking 30 minutes at the beginning of your day to journal freely does a lot to get your mind ready to take on what lies ahead.
I also love to cook and during the harvest season, preparing and eating a seasonal dish brings me a great deal of joy. And lastly, I like to stay physically and mentally healthy through physical exercise.
6. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or dead) who would it be, and why?
I’m going to go with my first thought and say – Ellen DeGeneres. That woman is the bees knees and I feel she would be a highly entertaining dinner guest.
8. If you could be amazing at playing any one instrument, which would you pick?
Piano!! This is actually one of my 2015 goals. I played piano religiously through eighth grade then stopped when I reached high school. I would love to be able to play that instrument again.
9. What song do you always sing when you sing karaoke?
Confession time. I’m a singer – I’ve sung my whole life – but every time I’m at a karaoke bar I chicken out. It’s true. BUT, someday, SOMEDAY I’ll muster up the courage to belt out either “You Learn” by Alanis Morissette song or “Something to Talk About” by Bonnie Raitt.
