Well I was going to try to show you some videos of our prototypes, but I guess I have to upgrade wordpress for that. I will still try to get them up somehow so we can show those of you who are following along how they work. Til then, a big thanks to Cheryl, Krissy (biggerkrissy.com), Payton who let me video tape them and all of those who have given us feedback!
The Glenwood Sunday Market in Roger’s Park takes place on a shady, cobblestoned stretch of Glenwood that runs alongside the CTA Red line. Yesterday was Bicycle Day at the market and it commenced with a bicycle tour through the community led by Alderman Joe Moore. We were invited to have a table, along with local bike shops and bike advocacy groups.
If you have been following our Facebook page you may already know that our first round of prototypes are finished! Its really one of the most exciting times at Po Campo, we get to take your ideas & our design skills and see them in action. This week I have been driving the bags around and handing them over to fabulous Chicago bike ladies to see what they think- look more for their feedback soon. For now I would like to show you the concepts and get YOUR feedback (since we can’t bring them to you personally).
Last week, I (Maria) had the good fortune to find myself in Portland, OR for the IDSA DIY Design Conference. At the conference, leaders in the DIY community spoke about the emergence of a DIY mentality that values creativity, experimentation and collaboration above all else. Speakers included Grace Bonney from design*sponge, Dale Dougherty from MAKE magazine, Derek Elley from Ponoko and Vanessa Bertozzi from Etsy. The content was a delightful change of pace from the typical industrial design conference that focuses on either superstar designers or practical applications of the tools and tricks of the trade. Plus, there was a huge robot on stage that provided a perfect backdrop for the event.
So many of you know that we make our bike accessories in Chicago- but where? We thought it would be great to actually show you! Last week when Maria and I rode our bikes down Ogden Avenue to our workshop we took some video and photos along the way. While we work on putting together the video, I thought we’d show you some of the super Chicago sights along our way.
